No success so far. The thing won’t print more than half a page – but it’s half a page okidata okipage 4w than it was doing before, so I’m a half-step forward. Operation could not be completed error: Works well enough for the moment.
Add Printer calls up the box to select the printer driver to install, but 4w is not listed for Win7. In the meantime the Oki is hooked up to an old networked machine which is only fired up okidata okipage 4w act as a printer mule.
There is an apparently insurmountable block in the OS, that is determined to okidata okipage 4w allow this printer to work in this hardware. I have just written a new driver for this exact printer Okipage 4W I’m now trying various config settings on the JD, just to see if the comms problem can be the root of this, but I suspect it’s something more fundamental.
Even seeing that half page is heartening, as it reminds me how good this little printer is. The JDx won’t talk to the printer directly it won’t print out a configuration okidata okipage 4w in any of the four choices of printer language availableand that’s probably an indicator of the remaining problem Anyway, last ditch attempt – I picked up an okidata okipage 4w JetDirect X print server for cheap, used lkipage XP64 Server drivers the latest ones that Olipage could be bothered writing, dating fromthey can be found on Oki Australia’s site.
I’ve tried the driver from the link above with Windows 7 64 bit and Targus port replicator. Could I install it in XP Mode? My still working 4w from now needs a facelift.
I tried the above driver in W7 64 and had okidata okipage 4w the same problem. BUT, I cannot get the 4w to be recognized yet it appears on the Printer Selection list okidata okipage 4w hitting Print in an Office application, says its working and has the right driver, but nothing happens. Koipage way of giving it the Task of running the printer?
I have the Op4whyxe. Installer reports an error Printer driver was not installed. HP themselves say a GDI printer is okidata okipage 4w not supported in any of the JD series and maybe even they couldn’t get them to work properly.
